This blog is about my home town. Sochi is a multicultural city with more than 450,000 inhabitants representing over 100 nationalities. It is Russia’s leading vacation resort welcoming almost three million tourists each year. Sochi is stretching about 148 km along Black Sea coast at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains, it has subtropical climate and has almost 300 days of sun a year. Also Sochi is applicant city for 2014 Olympic Winter Games :)

So let me see if I understand; this is a chapel dedicated to all the people who have driven off the road here? You see small monuments to individual accidents in this country, but I don’t ever recall one of this nature. Very interesting.
In the US there are often road side temporary monuments left where loved ones have died. Rarely do we see a permanent structure as this. Maybe it is a good idea in that people slow down and even stop.
i dont remember, who exactly built this chapel, but i'm sure it was dedicated to person, who driven off the road there... kinsman of one person...
somehow a lot of people died there:
- a car with fiancees at theiw marriage day;
- another car at motor rally fall there and people that were staing along the road;
- a man with his sons who just walk there in winter... and others...
well... usually people put vazes with flowvers and small monuments (permanent) twith photos of those, who died there... but i live in Caucasus, and building some kind of chapel is Caucasian custom... as i know, some Caucasians build chapels in their privet yards, if somebody very precious and beloved died, because its expensive and hard to get a permission to build something on the wayside...
Damn! This is an amazing view - I would love to live in the Chapel and maintain it!!! My dream place away from the city - but it looks like their was some land slide? Parts of the mountain looks bare and I would not want to drive off of that cliff - I really love this photo! You definitely get my National Geographic Pic of the day =)

Thank you so much!
Well, this landslide isn't dangerous, because trees' roots hold groung in place... many people just drive too fast...
